Character Creation
The Idea
For those who are new to roleplaying in general, those new to using proboards, or those who are veterans just looking for the basic idea - this thread is for the benefit of creating your roleplay character. Dos and Don'ts
There are a few things to keep in mind when creating a character for roleplay.Do... | Don't... |

Instructions
For a general idea of how we make characters for the roleplay on this site, here are a few steps to follow.
- Step 1: Create a New Account – In addition to your main account on this forum, you will have an account for each character you make. A quick way to create a new account with the same email address, simply go to the bottom right corner of your screen and select the tiny picture of two people, arrows pointing to them both (or, in most cases, a single person). Select that. For those who start with 1 account already, it'll log you out, so you'll make a new account just like you made your first. In the case of making addition characters, you'll see your current accounts displayed and, beneath them, the option to log out or create a new account.
- Step 2: Create a Thread – All characters start in the board 'In Holding'. Simply click here and click on 'Create Thread', which shows up as a button above the green line and below the proboards banner.
- Step 3: The Profile – It isn't guaranteed everyone who joins will have experience with proboard coding, so at the bottom of this post, there are 2 templates for convenience. The first one is basic, generic - it only asks for the simplest of information your character needs and no need to know code. The second one includes some prepped code, along with the information. Simply fill out what needs filling, then submit it with the 'Create Thread' button.
- Step 4: Review - Let a moderator or administrator know in the discord that you have created a character. They will look it over to make sure it applies to the roleplay and follows general rules, such as not being a miniature god. If something needs editing, they will let you know. In the case of having no need to edit, add, or remove information, you will be approved, and your board will be moved to the 'Approved' board. Proceed to the last step.
- Step 5: Roleplay! - Interact with other roleplayers on the site by creating a thread or replying to them. You can make an introduction, join in an event (if applicable), or pop into a public roleplaying thread.
Character Creation Form
Here are the forms to put in / include in your post before creating your thread.
Simplest:
Pre-coded:
Other Code(s):
For those interested, if you are knowledgeable about how to code threads, but don't want to use the pre-coded version of the template, you can use other sites, such as adoxography, to add creativity to your character's profile. Just be sure to add the information from the simplified creation template to your chosen code.
Simplest:
General Knowledge
Art / Picture: This only applies to those who are unfamiliar with code. Simply find a picture that is similar or completely looks like your character and copy the link, then add it here.
Art Claim: Name of Source / link to source
Alias: In Faerie, speaking your true name is an invitation to control you. Even a person's first name of their true name can give the fae some sway. Thus, a nickname or a different name altogether is necessary. Just a new / shortened first name will do.
Age:
Race:
Full Name (Only applies to those who have not sworn allegiance to a specific court) or Allegiance (Applicable to Faerie Courts): Information Here.
Abilities: For characters of the halfling or common fae races, you must discern what kind of magic applies to your character here. That way, no one is left guessing (except other characters, of course)
Status: free, enslaved, indentured, or a ranking in the courts
Trinkets: Does the character, aware or unaware, own or possess a magical trinket or item that provides a specific magic?
Curses: Does the character, aware or unaware, have a curse applied to them that can or cannot be removed by specific races / techniques?
Deals: Has the character entered into a bargain with a fae or within the realm of Faerie? If so, what are the terms?
Bonds: Almost all races other than human are capable of specific bonds. These bonds can come from trinkets, be an innate soul-bond (soulmate), or be a result of magic rituals / techniques. Does your character have one, and with whom are they bonded?
Description
How does your character appear? In the instance they are fae with the capability of glamour, or they have a trinket that enables it, you might describe two to three different appearances.
Personality
What is your character like? Are they introverted? Extroverted? Secretive? Boastful? Map out the very essence of your character.
History
Are there any intriguing or important information about the character's past they might have resulted in their personality? Events that have shaped them, transformed them? (NOTE: You can leave this area blank when you first make the character, but you will be required to fill it if/when your character develops a history through roleplaying or a story comes out regarding the past)
Family & Friends
What relationships does your character have and, possibly, nurture? Are they an orphan, or do they have a family? Friends? Romantic interests? You can also include a possible ship match (ideal romantic match), with permission from another roleplayer.
