Description

    In his natural form, he is a dark-haired (black) high fae, displaying traits similar to the elves (pointed ears, lithe body), but with added feathery, black wings (though these are automatically glamoured invisible to any but the people they're closest to). His wardrobe also consists of the color black, whether it applies to shirts, trousers, jacket, and the like. Feathers are also a thing, along with obsidian rings and jewels. A very unique characteristic that applies to him is the silver, tattooed mark on his forehead of a flame that can be is described to be in the unique shape of a squished 's'. Supposedly, the mark is a permanent remainder from his human-form curse, a signature so-to-speak.

    In his past life, before discovering he was a fae, he had been cursed to appear human. He retained the features of his original form, but no longer had elven ears, had no wings, nor abilities different from the surrounding humans. He was, for the time the curse ran, ultimately human, but without a soul. Raised by a peasant woman, he was not capable of owning beautiful things (despite craving them), often having clothes that either didn't fit him right or were threadbare. He did, however, manage to obtain a well-used sword from a bargain. 

Personality

    Although he is naturally soulless, he has adopted some mannerisms from his time spent with humans. This includes the desire to care for them, resulting in protectiveness and a sort-of (in his own way) tenderness. 

    In addition to being strange to other humans, he is also not your typical fae. He looks serious, sometimes even acts it, but he's often playful, even a little wild, taking risks where they're unnecessary or, well, risky. It's easier to be laid back and a little more social than to be rigid, stuffy, or scheming. People are also more willing to deal with him than the other fae who surround him. The disparity between the Winter Court and Summer Court also don't matter to him, though he prefers the company of humans over other fae in general. 

    His wild, carefree side hides the exhaustion beneath. He grew up a human, to find out he was not. The race he belonged to quickly showed how much he was not welcome. It's exhausting, being something he isn't, but also just as exhausting being something he is. Thus, he has no clue what he's really like, but is quite good at putting on a show. 

    He'll never not be a fae. Kyr will be tricky, scheme-y, even a little cruel at times, though he doesn't show this side of his often. If he does, it's usually for good reason or to make himself look bad on purpose. There are even people he might dislike, those who dislike him, and he just makes it easier for them to stick to it, etcetera. When he's upset, hurting, or of a similar situation, this will likely be his go-to persona until he starts to get over it.

In short, he can be quite complicated to pin down. Is he the wild card, the typical fae, or a lost soul(less)?

History

This is intentionally left blank. Below this post are current attempts to figure out a suitable history that results in him being a more human, empathic fae, as well as a cursed victim. Key historic points:

- He was born from a union between King Oberon and a winter court mistress (taboo). This resulted in his status becoming a changeling, a fae raised by humans with his fae heritage bound / removed until his 18th birthday. His changeling status is marked by the magi enchanter's symbol upon his forehead, which remains even when he regains his fae abilities, appearance, strengths, and weaknesses (this is all defined on the 'defined terms / types' page). 
- Kyr was born and raised during the medieval era in the Earthern realm. His ambitions included becoming a knight, but his human family were peasants and such ambitions were out of reach.

- Out of spite, Queen Titania of the Summer Court, wife to King Oberon, curses Kyr by binding him to a 'Cursed, Essence-bound Removal Ring'. He has since been presumed dead by both courts (except Titania remains aware). His ring has since been lost within the Earthern realm, moving from owner to owner, master to master. 

Family & Friends

    His father, Oberon, had a one-night stand with an unnamed, Winter Court mistress. Through King Oberon, he is connected to Queen Titania, though she does not acknowledge him as anyone other than an enemy, an illegitimate child no better than the dirt beneath her dainty shoes. It is suspected that he has some half-siblings, considering Oberon's tendency to be unfaithful when the mood strikes him. Unfortunately, none of them have come forth (yet).

    Kyr did not grow up the traditional fae way. Indeed, as his birth was the result of a taboo union, his birth mother had resurrected a long-abandoned tradition. This tradition took a human child (usually) from a well-off family and replaced that child with their own offspring, the memories of the human parents modified or blurred so they accepted the ‘changeling’ as their own. In addition, the changeling was spelled by a magi to effectively make them human, their inhuman features and abilities glamoured and restrained until a certain year of age (determined by the parent). Some things, however, would not be held back by the ‘curse’ as a means for easier adaption when it was lifted. The moment he was born, Kyr was magically inhibited and glamoured, as described, and given to a human family in the Earthern realm during that realm’s medieval age. Unlike the traditional practice, however, he was placed with a family of farmers.
    Thus, he grew up unaware of just how different he was from the other humans. Sure, he noticed that he didn’t exhibit nearly the same passion or imagination the other children showed, nor could he tell a lie, but he was quite adept at learning how to behave appropriately. Additionally, growing within a farmer's family, he (unlike other fae of his rank, illegitimate or not) did not balk at hard work, nor did he care much whether he got new things (though, admittedly, he did long for some of what the nobles had). He also had the ambition of pursuing knighthood, going as far as to start at the bottom of the ladder and work his way up.
    Results for his ambition were slow to come, though, which was to be expected. Since he didn't have a noble family, the option to pay his way into becoming a page wasn't there. Instead, he took the option of working for a knight's household at a young age. In his teens, his promotion to being his knight's squire was equally welcomed.
    His time from page to squire was not easy, especially when considering other potentials, he worked with being nobles, but he offered no complaint and simply made light of it. When he was being taught by his knight to fight, he often used any free time to practice or have a self-study. He was determined.

The union of a winter and summer court fae is considered taboo. Having an offspring from that union is even more so. In Kyr’s case, he was born from the union of the king of the Summer Court and a Winter Court one-night stand. The king wiped his hands of all knowledge of his mideeds, whereas Kyr’s birth-mother turned to a long-forgotten practice, turning her son into a changeling for 18 years.

During these years, Kyr swapped places with a human child, raised by a human family during medieval times in the Earthern realm. He was, in a sense, turned into a faux-human, his ‘parents’ mentally
